A tourist in my own city

After a month on the road where I did not know where I was, where I was going or even where I would be sleeping, it was nice to roll into the familiarity of Washington, DC - my home for the past 5 years. As I approached the mall on 4th of July eve, I saw thousands of folks milling about, taking the requisite “family smiling awkwardly in front of the Capitol” photos. Though I probably looked more like a tourist, with my loaded bike, than they did, I sure felt like I was home. But, just for good measure I took a couple “smiling awkwardly” photos of my own.
